After a long waiting once again it has been announced that MNP is going to be launched. But this time its final because Telcom and IT Minister A. Raja (on Tuesday) said that the much awaited mobile number portability (MNP), which allows telecom subscribers to sustain their numbers while switching operators, will be implemented partially from Nov 1. In the first phase 11 telecom circle will be covered (mostly northern and west states) from 3rd week of November.
The implementation of MNP has been delayed four times. Initially, it was to be implemented by Dec 31, 2009 in all the metros along with the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
It is believed that about 50 percent subscriber will switch their operator within three month of the launch. Lets wait and watch. but i think there will be another correction on call rates due to MNP.
